Seeking a King

A brand new Christmas song told from the perspective of the Jewish nation of old, the wise men, and the modern listener. The upbeat-rock feel of the song is full of joy and energy!

Lyrics

For so long, I’ve watched and I’ve waited,
Knowing You’re on the way;
When will You come and take back Your own?
Please make it soon, O Lord, I pray.

And when the prophets spoke so long ago,
What sight did they see (did they see)?
Did they know how long we’d be waiting for,
Or was it all just a dream?

Seeking a king to bring the chaos into order;
Seeking a king to set the wrongs all to right;
Seeking a king to bring the dawn,
And to put all the shadows to flight
With Your marvelous light!

For so long, I’ve wandered the desert,
Traveling far from my home;
And all I know is that star shows the way,
And leads me on, and on, and on and on and on and on…

And when the star stops and the journey ends,
What sight will we see (will we see)?
Will You take us in with the gifts we brought,
Or will You still be out of reach?

Seeking a king to make some sense of the heavens;
Seeking a king to make this journey worth it all;
Seeking a king to worship Him;
And down at His feet we will fall
And crown Him Lord of all!

But what if there was more to this King
Than all the kings who came before?
And what if all our gifts and good deeds
Couldn’t get us in the door?
What if He didn’t come yet to judge,
But to give us all a chance
To take a leap of faith
And find the depths of His amazing grace

That reconciles us with the Father.
Seeking a King to bring us back to our home;
Seeking a King to make us new,
And to sanctify the souls He has won
Until His Kingdom come!
